A of I – Can Dividends Make You Rich?

Time for another ‘Article of Interest’ post.  This is now the 21st post in this series, but only the 2nd this year.  Needless to say, it’s been a while, as my last A of I was seven months ago.  The article I point you to today is a guest post from Dividend Growth Investor over at Sure Dividend.

To recap the intent of this series… every now and then, when perusing investing or personal finance articles across the Internet, I come across what I call an ‘Article of Interest’, or ‘A of I’ for short.

I decided it might be helpful to share a link to the article(s) in case some of my visitors would find it of interest as well.

In most cases, the articles will focus on dividend-paying stocks or dividend growth investing (DGI).  However, other finance-related topics might be highlighted, too.

Now that we are up-to-speed, let’s see what this A of I is about…

Link Overview

Hopefully, you already know the answer to the question.  It’s ‘yes’, you can get rich off of dividends.

However, in order to succeed you need to save diligently and invest wisely over a long period of time.  It won’t come without paying attention to some details.

This guest post over at Sure Dividend discusses four items under your control that can help you on your dividend growth investment journey…

  • Save a good percentage of your income
  • Control where you invest your money (for us, it’s in dividend growth stocks with a history of dividend increases)
  • Spend time in the stock market (allow your investments to compound over time)
  • Be mindful of keeping investment costs low

While there are plenty of things outside of your control as an investor, these four items are not.  Always have a focus on them and you can increase the odds of your investment success and set  yourself up for financial independence.

Do you feel you could be better at controlling any of these four aspects with respect to your own portfolio?  Which one might need the most attention from you?

I hope you find the article useful and/or enjoyable.  As always, please share your thoughts once you’ve had a chance to read the material.

See you next time…
