Recent Buy – OMC

Hello, everyone.  I have another small stock purchase within my dividend Portfolio to provide an update on.  I’ve added to an existing holding… one that is relatively new.

This is my 6th purchase of this stock, which includes my initial purchase this past August.  Needless to say, I’ve been a regular investor in this stock over the past quarter.

With this stock being part of the Communication Services sector, I’ve increased my weighting in a sector I consider to be one of my most underweight.  While there’s still work to do in that regard, at least I’ve made a stride towards rectifying that situation.

Here are the details on my latest purchase…

Omnicom Group (OMC)

OMC is based in New York City and provides advertising, marketing and corporate communication services.

The stock has traded in the narrow range over the past 3 months before dropping outside that range recently.

All my prior purchases of this stock have been in the low $70s.  With the price dipping under the $70 level, I decided to add a handful of shares and lower my cost basis.

By falling below $70, the stock has reached a level it hasn’t seen since late February.

On 10/27/21, I bought 10 shares at $69.75 for a total of $697.50.  This increased the size of my OMC position by 13.2%.

The stock yield touched 4.01% at my purchase price (a good 1.71% percent better than my current Portfolio average of 2.30%).

I now own 85.698 shares of OMC.  This latest purchase was my least expensive on a per-share basis for OMC so far.  It lowered my overall cost basis to $71.93/share.

This purchase also boosted my annual forward dividend income by $28.00.

With regard to my Portfolio value for OMC, it’s now the 41st largest holding in my 54-stock Portfolio.  It ranks well ahead of Hormel Foods (HRL), but is just behind Realty Income (O).

Since OMC is not new to my Portfolio, the number of stocks in my Portfolio remained at 54.

Summary

My dividend weighting in the Communication Services sector got a little better with the addition of 10 shares to my OMC position.

I purchased my least expensive OMC shares thus far since initiating a position this past August.  It was my 6th buy of OMC overall.

The purchase resulted in a net investment of $697.50 into my Portfolio, and my forward dividend income increased by $28.

I’ll look to add more shares of OMC should the price decline further.

  1. I’ve seen this company popp up a few times on blogs. Interesting to see you adding as well.

I just posted my buys of the previous quarter. I initiated 5 new positions 😀 and expanded some existing ones.

    1. Whoa, sounds like you’ve been busy, Mr. Robot. Five new stock positions is about what I have for an entire year. I’ll be sure to swing by and check out the purchases.
