Recent Buy – LMT

Just a short post here…. keeping you up-to-date on my most recent Portfolio transaction.

From a share count perspective, this purchase is as small as you can get without buying fractional shares.

That’s right, I bought a single share of an existing holding.  However, it does allow me to keep boosting my forward dividend income.

So far in 2021, I’ve been able to add a positive amount in my forward dividend income ‘new capital investment’ category each and every month, and this purchase keeps that streak intact.

Here are the details…

Lockheed Martin (LMT)

As you probably know, LMT is a security/defense and aerospace company from the Industrials sector.

LMT released earnings on Monday and the stock pulled back a bit (-3.34%) on slightly reduced sales guidance.  LMT did raise their EPS outlook though.

In any case, with the stock drop, I decided to add a share.  This increases my LMT position, which has now grown to 12.155 shares.

On 7/26/21, I bought that 1 share for $367.50.  The stock yielded 2.83% at my purchase price (roughly half of a percent greater than my current Portfolio average).

This purchase resulted in the addition of $10.40 in annual forward dividend income.  The additional income boost will start with the September dividend payment from LMT.

Since LMT was already a part of my Portfolio, the number of stocks in my Portfolio remained at 54.

LMT is now the 43rd largest position in my Portfolio with a value of $4,473.65.  This has LMT trailing Hormel Foods (HRL) by a significant amount, but putting it just ahead of The Walt Disney Co. (DIS).

Summary

While I’m not necessarily trying to add to my Industrials weighting in my Portfolio (my most overweight sector), I decided to take advantage of the dip in the post-earnings price of LMT.

I added a single share of LMT in an effort to continue building out the position.

The purchase resulted in a net investment of $367.50 into my Portfolio.  In addition, my forward dividend income increased by $10.40.

LMT appears slightly undervalued to me at today’s price, so I was happy to make the addition.  Even though the addition was small, it helps my Portfolio continue to grow.
