Hi Everyone! Time for another ‘Article of Interest’ post. This is just the 3rd post in this series (yet another article from Kiplinger’s), with the last one appearing one month ago.
To recap the intent of this… every now and then, when perusing personal finance articles across the Internet, I come across what I call an ‘Article of Interest’, or ‘A of I’ for short.
I decided it might be helpful to share a link to the article in case some of my visitors would find it of interest as well.
In most cases, the articles will focus on dividend-paying stocks or dividend growth investing (DGI). However, other finance-related topics might be highlighted, too.
Now that we are up-to-speed, let’s see what this A of I is about…
Link Overview
Today’s link takes you to an article that covers what the author considers the 25 best Canadian dividend stocks for the U.S. investor. Why only for the U.S. investor though? I’m not sure why the list wouldn’t appeal to any investor looking to invest in what could be some of Canada’s best dividend-paying stocks.
I’ve seen several of these stocks in many DGI portfolios, and not just portfolios of Canadian investors. On the other hand, there were a few selections in the 25 that I haven’t heard of before. So, definitely check out the list, as perhaps you’ll be introduced to a stock for your watch list (or not!).
The article lists the following attributes for each stock:
- size (by market value)
- dividend yield
- number of consecutive years of dividend raises (7 or more for this group)
- a tally of recent analyst opinions
Since my Portfolio consists of only U.S. stocks right now, I don’t hold any of these Canadian stocks. However, keeping myself apprised of nearby investment opportunities is always a wise idea.
How many of these Canadian dividend stocks are present in your portfolio? Do you own a Canadian dividend stock that didn’t make the list? Which one(s)?
For my fellow Canadian bloggers… Are there any stocks on the list that are new to you? Do you see any that you’d avoid given your knowledge/familiarity with the company?
I hope you find the article useful and/or enjoyable. Please share your thoughts once you’ve had a chance to read the material.
See you next time…
Just yesterday I was thinking that I need more exposure to Canadian stocks (I only own ENB so far) in my portfolio. Today I read this article. Great timing, ED 🙂
From this list I like Canadian banks in particular. So I’m looking at BNS, RY and CM.
Also speaking about banks, I noticed that JPM became my 2nd largest holding recently. They came out with a strong ER in mid October, beating earnings and revenue expectations. JPM’s share price gained more than 11% since then, while S&P500 is up by only 4% in the same period.

Great timing indeed, SF. I’m glad it turned out to be some timely information. Perhaps it will help you choose between your 3 candidate Canadian bank stocks.
I have been very happy with my JPM purchases starting late in 2018. So far, so good with JPM… it looks like a long-term keeper for certain.
